How to connect:

• Install Diablo II 1.12. If you've played on the PTR, skip this step.
• Download this file (right-click, save as) and open it.
  • (If you'd rather edit the gateway list manually, you can use the Battle.net gateway editor, available here for Windows and here for Mac OS X. Add an entry for 'vidya.dyndns.org' as shown below.)
• Open Diablo II and select the '/v/.net' gateway. 1.13 will automatically be installed. You should still be able to play on the official Battle.net 1.12 realms.
• Click on 'create account', click 'agree', type in an account name and password.
  • You do not need to enter a real email address when the option comes up; just type in fake@email.com or something.
  • Also, characters are not automatically deleted if your account is inactive.
• When making a character on Diablo II Closed, make sure that you select 'ladder character' so that you can play with the rest of /v/.

Tips:

Type /games when in the lobby or in a Diablo 2 game to see a full listing of all games. Some games won't be listed in the game list if you can't join them (because they're on nightmare/hell, or full, or passworded, ...)

Type /friends add <user> to add a player to your friend list. You'll be able to see when they log in and out, and will be notified when they join games. Type /friends msg <text> to send a message to all your friends at once, or /msg <user> <text> to message one user at a time.

You can use /mail send <user> <text> to send a user a message when they are not online. To read mail that you've received, type /mail read.

This server has a number of extra features; besides the skill reset, and the server statistics, extra cube recipes have been added. For instance, you can refill any stacked weapon (throwing axes, etc.) by cubing it with two mana potions.

Character reset:

You can reset the following aspects of your character here:

• Skill points (try out different skill builds, or correct mistakes)
• Stat points (obtain enough str/dex to equip that new equipment)
• Secret cow level (open portals to the the cow level after killing the king)

Hell-mode difficulty only:

• Hell's Forge (extra runes - once every six hours)
• Shenk the Overseer (extra sockets in items - once every three days)

Type in your account name, password and the character name that you wish to reset below. The account name is case-sensitive - if you used capital letters in your account name you'll need to enter capital letters here, or it won't work. For best results, do not reset a character that you're currently playing.

Please note that if you wish to reset your stat points you must unequip all items first (except for jewelry) or it won't work. An easy way to do this is to die and then leave the game without retrieving your corpse.
